ABOUT

Bishop Road Buccaneers FC is an inclusive FA Registered Saturday morning football club (involving training and competitive matches) organised and sustained entirely by parent volunteers with the goodwill of Bishop Road School in permitting the use of its playing field.

In order to remain FA registered, the club pays for registration, public liability insurance and group personal accident insurance. There is a nominated Secretary, Treasurer and Child Welfare officer. Each year group has coaches who independently manage their own teams.

In line with the supportive and inclusive ethos of Bishop Road Buccaneers FC, the following rules should be followed:

  1. Parents/carers are responsible for the safe arrival, registration and departure of their child from the school field or from any ‘away’ venue. No child should be left without a nominated adult who is responsible for them. Coaches, parent volunteers and other adults are not responsible for children other than those they have arranged to look after.

  2. Parents/carers acknowledge that their child should, at all times, stay within the confines of the school field during training or matches.

  3. Parents/carers must ensure that their child is appropriately ‘kitted out’ for the weather and conditions prevailing (including underfoot) in particular for extremes of temperature and sunshine.

  4. Parents/carers must ensure that their child wears shin guards at all times.

  5. Parents/carers must ensure that their child has sufficient refreshment available at all times.

  6. Parents/carers recognise that from time to time there is risk of injury from contact or falling whilst playing football. Participation in football training or matches is strictly on an ‘own risk’ basis.

  7. Whilst it is essential, in the event of an emergency, that we have a record of a particular medical condition or a medical need of a child, coaches and parent volunteers (unless nominated first aiders) are not otherwise responsible for the application or administration of any required medicines.

RESPECT: THE FA CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS

  • Remember that children play for FUN

  • Applaud effort and good play as well as success

  • Always respect the match officials’ decisions

  • Remain outside the field of play

  • Let the coach do their job and not confuse the players by telling them what to do

  • Encourage the players to respect the opposition, referee and match officials

  • Avoid criticising a player for making a mistake – mistakes are part of learning

  • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting, or abusive language or behaviour.
